A move to Hobart via Brisbane for starters

W words fail me to describe our experience with this company. Ours was a simple house move from Victoria to Brisbane and a small consignment to Hobart.

Deliveries to Brisbane took far longer than quoted. To add insult to injury the Hobart shipment arrived in Brisbane as well. only 2000 kms from its destination.

On opening the shipment the glass of an antique painting was broken and we later found out that there was damaged to a Korean chest. Since then we have found that another box has gone completely missing and the Customer Information Sheet is deficient in detail which does not help in finding the box. One can only suspect pilfering.

Probably the root cause of the problem is that it appears that Allied uses subcontractors, or even su sub contractors to do the packing. Ours was one man for awhile household and when I pointed out my qualms i was assured that he could do it. How wrong she was given the damage to the Hobart shipment, the loss of a box and damaged to items destined for Brisbane.

Our move controller disappeared early on in the scenario; he only use was to continue to check on payments but did nothing to facilitate the move.

I would never, ever use these people again; it has become a slap dash Mickey mouse operation

The Careless Movers

Negligent packing which caused thousands of $ in damages - not in transit but in packing the boxes and filling the truck with often unprotected items(no wrapping). Disgraceful and because I didn't take their insurance I have been told to claim through my insurer. Warn anyone moving NOT to use Allied Pickfords.

I would give Zero stars if possible

I would give Zero stars if possible. Very expensive, Overpromised and Under delivered. Once the sale is made - this is where everything ends with them. The move manager in Dubai was very slow to respond and required follow-ups. The move manager in Australia never answered any of our calls and emails. The 1 time I spoke to her was after I had complained and she made a promise to call back with an update - which never happened. I had to send several follow-up emails and repeated calls requesting an update of our items which was delayed for over 1 month. I had to request a new move manager, which Allied did not do despite their failure to deliver the service they promised. Then when a delivery was finally scheduled, they promised they would call a day before to advice the time of delivery and guess what . at 4:00PM still No Call. They are quick with one thing though- sending an invoice for extra charges and collecting point. That was about it. I would never recommend Allied Pickfords again.

100% terrible

100% terrible. Moved from Chicago to Sydney and every person at Allied has been dismissive and arrogant. And our stuff still hasn’t arrived, despite a 24th February promise. six weeks late. We’ve had to email them every single time. they’ve never taken the initiative to contact us with updates. They even told us the wrong ship and it wasn’t until it was heading back to the US and I quizzed them, that they admitted they’d told me the wrong vessel. No apologies mind you. Now they won’t release for delivery until they’ve confirmed payment.. this could’ve been done months ago. I’m sick of their excuses and pathetic customer service when I’m paying top dollar. Never again.

Still waiting for my shipment to leave…

Still waiting for my shipment to leave Singapore - it was packed over 4 months ago and is still there! We were promised that the most one could expect to wait for shipment to be in Singapore was 3 months but obviously it is more than this now.

Avoid at all costs

Avoid at all costs. Absolutely useless no communication unless you chase them. Told move from Christchurch to Brisbane would take 4 to 6 weeks. Has so far taken nearly 5 months and our goods are on the water somewhere. And you think they care? They don’t give a dam. Highly recommended not to use there Christchurch branch anyway. Go elsewhere is all I can say

Don’t use.
Moved from the Uk to New Zealand. Missing goods, many broken items (crystal glasses, dinner service, damage to dining table, etc. etc.) We paid for an end to end service where boxes would be unpacked and items reassembled. The ‘team’ left without unpacking boxes on day one ( they put together a bed) and said they’d return the next day. We had to chase them the following morning to find out where they were. They’d gone to another job. After insisting they return, they arrived at 3pm and left at 6pm. We emptied virtually all of our boxes ourselves. The few items they did erect were assembled incorrectly (ie Sofa legs put on back to front, dining table legs attached in different places).
They put a Stanley knife through our sofa in a few places when they removed the cellophane without highlighting to us. We later found the destruction hidden by cushions placed on top.
I wrote to the company over 2 weeks ago asking for them to respond to my complaints. Heard nothing. Whilst disappointing, unsurprising given the total disregard for the service that they should provide.
Disgusted, just don’t use. We used Pickfords in the UK who partner with Allied in NZ. Avoid at all costs.

Bad presales process

I cannot say anything about their customer service, that is why two stars and not one. My experience is limited to obtaining a quote (which never happened). They just got lost on the stage of inquiries without any feedback. You have something to do with your salesmen, guys. Bad piece of work, bad impression!

Allied Pickford "the careful movers" ha ha

I wish I had seen the bad reviews on this site before signing up with Allied Pickfords for a Sydney to Melbourne move. All the promises in the world about how good they are and careful. The sales rep talked me out of going with an independent but in 23 years of moving, on average every two years, I have never experienced theft and breakages like I have with this mob. Half their movers are subcontractors so, in my mind, they could be working for a premium service today and a budget service next week. The service and communications up to moving day were good but on the day their was confusion over the logistics of the move which concerned me. Anyway, opportunistic theft of small jewellery items along with two large platters which were broken are my main issues with this substandard service.
The jewellery had sentimental and emotional value rather than being of a high value. I figure if the packer swipes the odd item here and there, it is too hard to prove and not a high enough monetary value to involve the police. I wish I had packed everything myself, as I have done for 90% of my previous moves. I am sure my packer's girlfriend/wife will be happy with the Pandora jewellery he no doubt gifted her at my expense.

AP have clearly broken an antique piece…

AP have clearly broken an antique piece of furniture in transit from Australia to UK. They are refusing to pay, saying that it was pre-existing, referring to a photograph of some symbols written on the package. The inventory showed the particular piece as being in good condition at point of origin. No-one mentioned a broken leg when collecting, no one wrote it on the inventory because it wasn't broken. I suspect the packers broke it whilst putting on the packaging. Can anyone tell me who to contact in Australia about this? This is just the final straw after a chapter of disasters from AP. Wad way to finish three wonderful years in Australia.

NEVER AGAIN

Just a horrible company to deal with. I dealt with them for a move from Europe to Australia and they turned up two hours late on the day. When I called to complain about them being late, they started having a go at me and said they’d cancel the whole thing because I’d had the nerve to complain! I spoke to a very rude Australian guy who was unhelpful and arrogant. They ended up sending a sub-contractor who actually asked me to help him lift things into the truck. TOTAL SHAMBLES and a total cowboy company. Horrible experience.

Most frustrating experience Coleman Allied

Most frustrating experience! You deal with unprofessional persons when you go to Coleman Worldwide Moving (Coleman-Allied). Firstly Coleman completely mismanaged my shipment (leaving 30% at the origin), secondly they did not inform me about this until it was due for the delivery after 3 months and thirdly a lack of communications, willingness and efforts on their part in resolving the issues. ‘Customer focus’ doesn’t seem to be in their dictionary!

I paid top of the range for my international movement from USA to Australia thinking I am going to a reputed company & here is what I got;
- Coleman picked up my goods in May 2020, no delivery made yet after 5 months (Oct 2020) and here is more…
- Despite requesting an accurate quote & their agent making a personal visit for estimation, 4 months after the goods were picked up they tell me in September 2020 that 30% of my goods was left at the origin location in USA!! They tell me there was ‘overflow’ despite the ‘accurate’ quotation. I had also requested the agent to come to the site on the day of loading but he did not. In fact I also asked a few days after they picked up the goods to check if weight was ok and he informed me that all was fine, no issues with the weight.
- People can make mistakes but there is clear lack of desire on their part to resolve it. Now they are asking me to pay almost 50% more showing me inflated estimate of weight and costs for bringing the remaining goods from USA to Australia. This is despite the fact that they would take another 3 months or so in delivering my goods finally (i.e. almost 8 months from the pickup date). And this is the best case scenario if the come to their senses and dispatch it now and not keep holding it anymore.
- All I am asking is simply delivering my full shipment ASAP without extra costs to me. That’s what I requested 3 weeks ago and still haven’t heard back from them.
- Now you decide if you want to trust this ‘reputed’ company to deal with your precious personal items! Good luck if you do! For me and my wide network of friends - Never again, never would we give any business to Coleman.

Kind of miraculous

I used Allied Pickfords to pack up my stuff in Sydney in 2005 and to store it while I was overseas . which turned out to be for 15 years. I recently got home and had the stuff re-delivered, expecting it to be mouldy and rotten and to need to be thrown out . but everything was pristine. I am still boggling. Very impressive, and nice guys to deal with - the guys who came to deliver the stuff were also very switched-on about Covid which was reassuring.
